  • I assigned DG to work more on story. He seems to have hit a rut in it, though, so he might be needing help, especially with Konoha out-of-action. I might do so myself if it comes to that... Anyways, expansion of early-game content so that it's less of a "Recruit Fest."
  • Creation of an NPC list that we want to appear. Appearances would vary.
  • Later on, DG suggested a "BE A NPC IN THE BL GAME" thread to help stoke interest. Links to the Art Center and stuff would also help foster interest.
  • Finally, (and hopefully), a text-based demonstration of battle mechanics.
  • Recruitment would start later, once interest has been gained. From there, we will be careful to pick and choose the people with the appropriate qualifications.
  • I complained about my character and how it deviated from what I originally intended for it. DG suggested some changes. Also, notes that my character's gender would be ambiguous.
  • Discussion about Evo's character. Mixed feelings about Evo's weaponry of "sword in one hand, gun in the other." Evo himself doesn't care, as long as "it's cool."
  • Discussion about NK's character. Recruited in a bar.
  • DG made changes to the story as a result.

  • DG started the NPC callout thread in Beast's Lair.
  • The NPC List was started shortly thereafter.
  • Some discussion about Manah's character, concerning being a lawyer and whatnot.
  • DrmChsr0 (the sniper) will be cut, and Jandeku will probably be cut.
  • I suggested adding character story arcs to the main plot to give it flavor.
  • DG began becoming stressed about the adding character story arcs. Requested help. I'll probably end up helping.
  • Raf, Kiryuu, and others will have their characters expanded, as well.
  • I asked Drm to give DE a Reality Marble. Having a majutsu kokuin, well, that type of background deserves a Reality Marble.
  • Kaorin came back. I asked her to stop with the webpage, since Raf's webspace and her logging in made that moot.
  • Also, asked her to put music on hold. It needs to be done later in development.
  • Finally, asked her to work on her character's skills and continue work on sound effects.

  • Constanze and I explained what "character story arcs" were to DG.
  • A short summary of the Mad Sage, the Nothingness, and EvoSpace

The Mad Sage started encountering forces of "nothing" when fighting the invading Chaos outside of the Seventh Realm. Scared shitless, he ran to EvoSpace about this, but Evo had already left to combat the Nothingness by himself.

Unfortunately, Evo was defeated and imprisoned by the forces of the void, but was able to do two things to further stall the Nothingness. First, he separated his soul from his body. His soul gained form and was entrusted to his friend, Raven, for a worthy hero to appear. Second, his body was separated into Ether clumps and scattered throughout the Seventh Realm. Each piece had the inherent power to hold back the Nothingness, being "materialized nothing" as well.

Meanwhile, the Mad Sage snapped and decided the only way to save the Realms was to gather as much power as he could from the Realms and fight off the Nothingness himself. He felt the other Sages wouldn't understand his plight and cast him off as the raving lunatic, given his reputation, so he decided to keep this to himself and a few trusted lieutenants.

And now... with rumors that Evo disappeared, fear manifested itself into the crumbling of the realms, just by the sheer strength of that concept. The remaining Sages scrambled to figure out what was wrong. They knew of only two things. Their leader, the Great EvoSpace, was gone. And the Mad Sage was running amok. And soon, forces of Chaos and Nothing began creeping into their Realms.

Among them seemingly leading this charge were...
...the power-corrupt Dark Knight, General Reapsalot...
...the enigmatic catgirl, EBL-tan...
...and the greatest Techno-Gunner in the Realms, Lena.

  • A new character, Lena, was created. A lieutenant of the Mad Sage. The Realm's greatest Techno-Gunner. Uses a cybernetic arm to enhance her shooting and cybernetic legs for mecha-grade mobility. Armed with a revolver and the sniper rifle Black Barrel Longinus. Ponytail. Strategic, serious, and loyal to the end. Possibly secretly in love with the Mad Sage. She fights with the party early in the game and remains an enemy until she's defeated just before the "final" battle with the Mad Sage.
  • Black Barrel design was discussed between DG and Kaorin.
  • Some End game content clarified. Their are three endings: Bad, Normal, and True.
    • Bad Ending: The party fights the Mad Sage, but loses. The Mad Sage absorbs the party and gains their powers. Then, the Mad Sage, EBL-tan, and Lena head off to fight Core of the Nothingness. EBL-tan and Lena do not last long against it, but the Mad Sage is immensely powerful. In the end, though, the Mad Sage sacrifices himself to defeat the Nothingness. EvoSpace may or may not die as well.
    • Normal Ending: The party fights the Mad Sage and wins. They fight a grueling battle against the Nothingness and finally reach it's Core. However, they have not collected all the artifacts, and are still unable to fully defeat the Core of the Nothingness. BL-tan sacrifices herself to destroy it while everyone else escapes. The world is saved, but at what price...?
    • True Ending: The party fights the Mad Sage and wins. They fight a grueling battle against the Nothingness and finally reach it's Core. Having collected all the artifacts, they are able to destroy the Core of the Nothingness. Everyone escapes and the Realms celebrate.

  • I showed to Hayate a few potential attacks that Sezzy might want to have. Accelerated Decay, Atomic Dissolution, The Great Flood, Thread Lock, Life Quit, Identity Reconfiguration, Daemon Process, Life Quit, Moderation, and Overcount 9999.
  • Hayate showed a few attacks that he had written for BL-tan, based on TYPEs. Suishou Retsu, Kin'ei Kourin, Kaidan Tenzan, Myoujin Kassatsu.
  • I obtained permission from Mirioki to help work on Story.
  • The Level 100 Dungeon: Not the one Raven is in, where you recruit EvoSpace. In fact, you might want him in the party at that point. You fight Matou Shinji at the end. When you gain his relic, you can summon him depending on how much you hate him.
  • Some random stuff between Mirioki and me. Mirioki saw it as sexual. I did not. Perhaps Mirioki is denying his sexual feelings for... ZOMG
  • I uploaded the Excel file that had Sezzy's potential new spells. The spreadsheet also has random information about Reality Marbles. Moo.
  • Hayate had problems with why the party was collecting relics.
    • DG said that the the party is collecting them to get the Mad Sage's attention, who wants them too. That way, the Mad Sage will come to the party and save them work.
    • Hayate counters that, if relics are known to be able to fight the Nothingness, then might as well let the Mad Sage take them (which would make it clear about his attentions).
    • DG says that the party is probably misinformed about what the relics do, like holding the stability of the world or something. They also have no idea about the Nothingness. The primary goal is so that BL-tan can stab the Mad Sage and take revenge, and that his relic gathering means "something bad."
    • Hayate didn't really like that idea, since it basically made the party look like complete idiots.
    • I suggested that, perhaps, the Mad Sage already absorbed the Nrvnqsr Chaos and TATARI relics (which would give him those powers).
    • Also, I asked why guardians of the relics would let a group of warmongers steal these priceless artifacts.
    • Basically, Hayate didn't like the whole "useless-looking relics" = "win the game" sort of deal.
    • DG said that they would hold the world together, since Evo is gone. That would be worse for us, since we're bringing them into Nothingness. And, taking them anyways will further destroy the Realms. So, basically, that would keep us from using them against the Nothingness. So... how do we defeat the Nothingness? "Relics together are all-powerful" is not an option.
    • I suggested that, in the final battle, artifacts would be used to enhance character's powers.
      • Talk turned into relics.
      • DG didn't like some of the relics, but Hayate, Sae, and I felt that they shouldn't be exact things from those characters.
  • Hayate's Revised Endings
    • Bad End
The combined efforts of Lena, EBL-tan, and the Mad Sage break through the Core of Nothingness, but they find the power to be infinite... The Mad Sage seals the Nothingness by himself with all the power he gained, burning his life in the process.
    • Good End
The party breaks through the Core of Nothingness and face against its infinite power. After whittling it down, they proceed to seal it with the World's power, channeled through the relics, since it was impossible to destroy.
    • True End
The party breaks through the Core of Nothingness and face against its infinite power. The party tries to seal it but fails, and the result is a battle of attrition. Party members are replaced several times in this battle. Worn-out, BL-tan decides to use the last of their strength to delay the Nothingness and escape, but she suddenly forces the rest of the party out while taking all the relics, saying she wanted to try one last thing, although it was impossible. A few party members were missing during the escape. Hayate and RoyalKnight are confirmed to have stayed behind with BL-tan.

Somehow the Nothingness was completely rewritten. The portion of the Seventh Realm where the nothingness was the core of is reduced a large grassy plain. In it lies a large chunk of immovable Zero Element, which will be a tourist attraction in the years to come. People go on training and soul-searching journeys while setting out to visit this object.

  • Talk about the nature of the final dungeon, the Nothingness. Nothingness can be defeated by infecting it with information.
  • With the enough of the Realms consumed, all that material turns into a chaotic mish-mash near the Core of the Nothingess, giving us an environment to work with.
  • Sezzy renamed a couple names in the spellbook, but generally accepted them.
  • DG gave me approval to help work on story. Both Co-Leads accounted for.

  • Raf had an idea about his character. The Mad Sage would attack a shrine and kill several people, including someone named Ovelia. Raf would get Ovelia's soul. Then, Raf would go after the Sage, seeking vengeance, at which point the Sage seals away his sanity (and therefore some of his powers).
  • I pointed out a few problems with it. First, the entire thing with Ovelia reeks of something Raf created outside the context of the game. Meaning, something that he likes that he puts into the game just because it's special to him. Self-insertion no-no. Second, this is all still very vague and needs more description. Third, sealing away his sanity is a Berserker-rip off. And fourth, it trivializes BL-tan's unique situation.
  • I explained the gist of the storyline to Mojinr.
  • Drm suggested that being absorbed by the Mad Sage in one of the endings was a way to reach the Developer's Ending.
  • At some points in the game, you will be forced to run away from bosses that are too powerful for you to defeat.
  • I fancied the notion of cutting Cascade as a PC if his character doesn't shape up.
  • I wrote up the "Zophar Ecksington Arc" (Chapter 6) for the story. Minor changes will be made concerning Hayate.
  • Kaorin asked about possible release dates. As a wild first guess, I gave February 2007 as a possible date to release a demo.
  • Noodle looked at Raf's code and fought it a bit of a mess. I looked at it as well, and agreed with him.
  • Noodle and I discussed various tile engine programming aspects, mentioning the "GIF approach" where you create a palette of tiles and assign different "colors" (tiles) to each tile position.
  • Some talk about OOP and good programming practices.
  • Hayate re-iterated how he wanted his character introduced into the party.

  • Konoha thought of a new attack, Frozen Flash.
Frozen Flash: Konoha shoots a ball of ice that freezes the opponent and then runs up and pile drives the enemy, shattering the ice. Good chance of inflicting Frost and a small chance of IHKO since they could literally shatter with the ice.
  • I stated that, if you're gonna have an OHKO, you might as well make it worthwhile, and then you'd want to have it at a higher level, especially since you're guaranteed damage, anyway. 50% frost, 10% OHKO.
  • Konoha first joins because DG owes her money, but stays on so that she can become a personal maid to BL-tan. Too, the party lacks a real cook or caretaker. He stated that he'll be updating his character.
  • Hayate creates a manatech for BL-tan, "Type-Mars" of the "Type" attacks.
Kaen Senzan (fire): BL-tan stomps the ground in front of an enemy, causing the ground beneath it to erupt in flames. As the enemy is slightly lifted off the ground while being immolated, BL-tan performs a single explosive slash.
  • The engine better be able to do transparencies.
  • Constanze states that he might have something showable tomorrow.
  • Raf's describes his story in further detail.

Raf is a Blood Knight serving as a guardian of the Altrouge shrine, under the command of the head guardian, Ovelia. The two were great friends, and Ovelia was like a big sister to Raf.

General Reapsalot attacks the shrine and decimates the guardians. Raf is the only survivor, and Ovelia makes a contract with him, placing her soul into his halberd. In her dying breath, she asks him to recover the relic.

Raf attempts to pursue Reapsalot, but he always seems one step ahead of the blood knight. Furthermore, Raf's halberd, Ovelia, draws from the user's own blood and soul, requiring Raf to feed off the blood of his victims if he is to survive and avenge Ovelia and his other comrades. He eventually loses sight of his objective and begins taking blood just to further empower himself. He descends into a state of blood lust with a pinch of madness.

  • Originally, Raf had it so that the Mad Sage destroyed the shrine, but we're moving towards making the Mad Sage not directly responsible for so many attacks.
  • Reapsalot will also be responsible for seiging the Pleasure Bastion and spawning the "Gundam Scenario."
  • Kieran may have a cameo appearance as one of the Altrouge guardians.
  • Constanze will probably be recruited after Konoha.
  • Hayate outlines "Attack on the Tohno Shiki Shrine."
The party hears news at the capital about Reapsalot's war with the Shiki shrine, so the party decides to head there. When they arrive, a battle is already taking place. BL-tan spots the Mad Sage in the distance, but she is stopped by Lena. Lena is too strong for the party to defeat, so the party retreats and drags BL-tan away. After the battle, the party tends to the survivors.
  • So, it seems that both Graphics and Programming took over Story. :/
  • The stealing of Akiha's relic by the party shall be cut, and replaced with an EBL-tan and mafia event.
  • Contact with Cade was made.

by RoyalKnight (GMT -8)

  • Minor discussion of Cade's character and work-in-progress skill set.
    • Combo System, probably implemented through transparent status effects.
  • RK does a character sheet audit to figure out what stuff needs touching up.
    • Constanze, Chaos Greyblood, and EvoSpace need sheets on the wiki.

  • Mirioki asked about reducing magic circuits for Konoha's transformation mode.

RK responded that ciruits are a stat that can't really be messed with. However, a better alternative is to seal off the circuits. Max/MP will not change, but the transformation will be dispelled if MP falls below a certain threshhold. This will allow keep it from being unfairly protected from attacks versus MP. Mirioki went with the idea and played with the idea that you would still be able to perform attacks that went over that MP threshhold. However, you'll lose ~10-12HP per 1MP over, as well as some sort of nasty status effect that grows in proportion to extra MP used. This is the penalty for basically overusing and overstuffing circuits with maryoku.

Konoha's most powerful regular ManaTech will probably go just above the minimum. The transformation will probably have a small HP and MP leak for maxing certain circuits out. Konoha's blunt attacks will turned into edged attacks. The transformation will replace Konoha's RM.

  • Ether, Holy, Demon, and Shadow will probably be generally the most effective normal elements, given the more universal nature and concept of them. Of course, that also makes them slightly more rarer than the standard elements.
  • RK fiddled with the idea of cutting Cascade's PC status, citing "out-there"-ness and general character estrangement from others.
  • Mojinr asked what types of minigames and sidequests there will be.
    • Sidequests
      • Each character has an end-game sidequest.
        • Part of Constanze's sidequest might be to find all of his traps.
      • Lesser known deities also involve sidequests.
      • There are certain sidequests that can only be done with a New Game+.
    • Minigames
      • Cooking minigame.
      • Doujinshi selling minigame.
        • Possibly with an equivalent to a Comic Market.
        • Used to buy an artifact at an auction.
      • Courtroom mini-game
        • Features Vintage.
        • The final case will involve a monster to wreck the courtroom, and Vintage becomes a temporary PC.
      • World Melty Blood Federation at the Brunestud Colosseum.
        • Use of JoJo-type Stands as players summon familiars to fight.
        • Familiars speculated to be Ghost Liner-types (just for the hell of it).

by RoyalKnight (GMT -8)

  • Discussion of Cade's Special Abilities.
    • Cade relayed that he wouldn't mind the small chance that the bush in his Desperation Attack be replaced with a cardboard box.
    • Reality Marble
      • Agreed that it was slightly questionable, and would require some sort of story collaboration to solve.
      • Very, very specific for a Reality Marble, going along with his origin and whatnot.
    • Story goes that he's observing BL-tan after being exposed to the Nothingness, and he wants to see which side of the fence he'll be on.
  • Hayate asks a question about the ATB bar. Should it be the Atelier Iris 2 sliding guage or the Atelier Iris 3 block-type?
    • RK gets sucked into the Atelier Iris YouTube video.
  • Hayate asks about the ability to use scrolling and zooming in like in the video.
  • Noodle responded that it is very possible to do scroll in Allegro, but was unsure of about zooming in and out.
  • There are 13 confirmed PCs. Plus BL-tan, 14. If we want to have an end that requires 3 full parties, that would make it 15.
    • Hayate responded that Cascade will at least be in the storylines with his research into Anti-Existence Energy.
    • Possible to just add someone later on and put them into an open-ended arc that can be easily accomodated.
    • Possibly a contest in Beast's Lair for it.
  • RK did a bit of playing around with formations and positions.
    • Each party member brings a formation to the group.
    • Frontline Members: Raf, BD, and RK.
    • Echelon Members: Cade, Konoha, Constanze, Kiryuu
    • Support Members: DG, Noodle, Kaorin, O Hakubi
    • Rear Members: DE, Zophar, EMPTY (could be Cascade or CGB).
    • RK expressed that the EMPTY slot better be a mage or other type of caster.
  • RK wrote some summaries about the endings, but, didn't post it because of how certain things came out.
    • Kaorin wanted to be part of the normal ending, using her unused latent circuits to help seal the Nothingness, but then dies afterwards.
    • Hayate responded that the normal ending was a bit different from that, and the Nothingness would be sealed regardless.
    • Also, Hayate had planned that Normal End = True End. Evidently, RK screwed that part up. >_>
  • Kaorin posted a thread about the format of release, episodic or monolithic.
    • Noodle said that it was a bad idea because of the lack of presentable material and the added, set-in-stone deadlines.
    • RK pointed out that, at the point where we can even put out a single episode, we would have much of the backend stuff done to the point where we would be able to quickly finish the rest of the game.
    • Kaorin admitted that it might have been a bit early.

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

by RoyalKnight (GMT -8)

  • Mojinr idly asks about the cutscenes in the game.
    • Kaorin and Noodle both respond with "Sex." REAL VIDEOS. REAL ACTION. REAL NEKOHIME.
  • RK posts up a spreadsheet concerning formations.
    • Hayate reminded everyone that the formatiosn will have stat-altering effects, and are not just placement.
    • Discussion about switching formations in battle.
      • May or may not happen. Leaning towards may not.
      • IF there are formation changes, only those with the Charisma skill would be able to perform one.
      • If a character is downed, a formation change would allow the group to downgrade a formation.
STUFF THAT I FORGOT TO SAVE LOGS FOR. T__T

  • Hayate mentioned that he should base Lena off of Reeze Baife.

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

by RoyalKnight (GMT -8)

  • Unless Drm starts getting his spells in order, Hayate and RK will be creating a Common Spell book.
  • RK started talking about formations.
    • Constanze mentioned that a character switching command would be needed for formations, in case a key person is downed.
    • RK pointed out that the formations have weaknesses as well, character switching could be abused, and if you have someone you could switch with, you're better off with a different formation entirely.

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

by RoyalKnight (GMT -8)

  • Zooming and scrolling in the battlefield would very much benefit special attacks.
  • DG complained about Lena's design.
    • Changed cybernetic legs to complicated boots.
    • Hayate told DG to reference Reeze Baife for help.
  • Mojinr asked about duel mode and team-based battles.
    • RK didn't know what the hell he was talking about.
    • Mojinr explained that duel mode was some sort of context sensitive button mashing to win something other than through battles.
    • RK said that it probably isn't for this game.
  • Mojinr then asked about the music.
    • RK said music shouldn't be done until we get a working prototype to Kaorin.
    • Hayate said that she should do some music in the meantime.
  • Mojinr asks about the mythos and legends behind relics, the gods, shrine locations, and whatnot.
    • Hayate mentioned that Ciel is both a symbol for the court of justice and a minor cooking saint.
    • Stuff said that many things were discussed, but not written down.
    • RK has been going on with an assumption about the deities.
All things that happened in TYPE-MOON canon actually occurred, but on a different level of existence from the Realms' denizens. These are deities even to EvoSpace, who created the Realms to clorify them. Fandom becomes an analog for religion. The story of the games is like scripture. Unfortunately, much of it was written in the Ancient Language (which is Japanese), so few people can understand it. A few scholars of the Language work to translate it into the Common Language. They are the ones that reveal the truth and translate the scriptures, spreading the word of the Gods to the people.
