NoodleKnight

Character

Name: NoodleKnight
Class: Expert Marksman & Engineer
Forumite Name: NoodleKnight
Character Code: NK

Physical Description

Eyes: Brown/Crimson Red, hard to tell which one exactly but his eyes are a noticable crimson red when he's in battle, or angry, or some occasion comes up that would make crimson eyes look cool.
Age: 23
Hair: Black. Not very long, enough to be blown around by the wind but not long enough to cover his face and ears.
Gender: Male
Skin: Slightly pale
Height: 5' 11"
Build: Skinnier than average, you'd think he was a push over from far away, but who says you need to be big and chunky to be strong? Well, he can lift his rifle and aim it, good enough right?
Clothes: (This contradicts my old forum post, I think, please refer to this wiki entry) T-shirt, covered by custom vest. Cargo pants fastened down by straps of the same color. Top it off with a large black trench coat (the back portion/tail touches and drags on the floor, it flies in the wind like a cape). The trench coat is actually quite heavy and thick, it comes in handy from shielding against the harsh elements and making a tent, but it's a burden in the blazing heat & sunlight. Lastly, and most importantly, NoodleKnight has a long red scarf.
I choose not to specify a color because, well, I'm not that creative. Black is the base color but another tone that would appear in small places would be nice, I'll leave that up to the artists.
NoodleKnight is lined with gadgets, most which will probably be just for show.

Attitude and Personality

NoodleKnight is generally a lazy person, but once motivated he becomes a skilled worker. Having issues with trust (hard to gain, easy to lose), NoodleKnight often keeps quiet, which makes him appear like a stoic character, but as time progresses he starts to warm up to others, and they begin to see who he really is. In an effort to become less of a burden to those around him (or so he percieves) NoodleKnight enjoys learning how to do small things which he would normally ask others to do (like cook, fix little things, make bullets, etc...)

Facinated by technology, NoodleKnight constantly likes to tinker with his weapons, modifying and replacing parts. Even though he uses production-line firearms, they have been modified so much that the only thing that remains factory-spec is only the design itself.

Being a perfectionist sounds like a joke for NoodleKnight, well it is, but only to a certain extent. Marksmanship and craftsmanship are the only two skills that he heavily stresses to achieve perfection.

Although not very religious, NoodleKnight greatly worships Arcueid Brunestud and will always have a soft spot for her. NoodleKnight also wants to pet BL-Tan's cat ears!

Sample Quotes

"Wait ... That. Wasn't. Supposed. To. Happen"
"Well in retrospect, you only really need two tools, a hammer and a paintbrush. You use the hammer to beat it to fit, then the paintbrush to make it look nice."
"Oh... Whoops."
"Well, it's sort of overweight. But that's okay, if we paint it white it'll look lighter."
"Hey. Yeah. Uh... About that. You didn't see it when you were back there, did you?"
"Well...I don't think that was supposed to happen."
"I think you just took a step into a world of hurt."
"Oh crap, I'm guessing that's not a good thing"
"I'm sorry, what? It's kind of hard to hear you over the sound of your constant team killing. "
(A countdown timer?) "No, a count up timer. It goes from one, to explode. Of course a countdown timer, you idiot!"

Combat

Strengths, Roles

Strengths: Very high damage attacks, ranged combat, melee, agility.
Weaknesses: Low ManaPool, No spells, weak ManaTechs, average strength.

In-depth Description: NoodleKnight's specialty comes in the form of ranged combat. His signature weapon, the rifle, is most effective at long ranges where most enemies have a hard time hitting. His accuracy with the rifle ensures that each shot deals a painful amount of damage. Time is the enemy, though; his accuracy is compromised if not enough time is taken to aim.
A long rifle isn't very useful in close-combat, since it's cumbersome to swing around. To cope with this situation, NoodleKnight carries a custom crafted sword. The sword has a built-in mechanism that allows it to heat up, which increases physical damage and enchants the sword with the ability to deal fire-based status ailments.
NoodleKnight would rather have a gun and not need it, then need a gun and not have it; and two is better than one, so to fulfill that theory, NoodleKnight has a custom built revolver which can accurately hit it's target from close-range all the way to long-range.
Agility is another one of NoodleKnight's key strengths. Although it sounds contradictory over the fact that he takes so much time aiming, agility enables NoodleKnight to dodge attacks and try and cram in more shots (fast effect).
To maintain high agility, NoodleKnight has lightweight armor, which is only effective against low to mid-damage ballistic and melee attacks.

Equipment

Primary Weapon: Remington Model 700P Rifle
Description: Originally designed to be used for law enforcement ("P" denoting "Police"), the Remington Model 700P was the core design for the M24 sniper rifle (used by the U.S. Army) and the M40 sniper rifle (used by the U.S. Marine Corps).
NoodleKnight uses a production line Model 700P DM TWS chambered for .308 winchester rounds, which is now far from it's factory condition -- the only thing that remains factory-spec is the rifle's design. The DM stands for Detachable Magazine, which allows the operator to remove its 4 round magazine. The TWS stands for Tactical Weapon System, which is simply just a package that could be ordered with the gun. The TWS gave the rifle a composite stock reinforced with Du Pont Kevlar and fiberglass. The stock is laid up around an aircraft-grade aluminum bedding block that runs up the entire length of the receiver. It has a textured, black, non-reflective finish and comes with sling swivel studs.
Additional parts came with the package, but for the sake of simplicity they won't be mentioned. Those parts were replaced anyways. Reference: (1)

Since this is NoodleKnight's signature weapon, it's starting form is upgraded far from the original manufacters design, but still has a large potential to be upgraded. What was described above is the gun in it's pure stock form, which may sound intimidating, but in all reality, is not. For one, it's a police rifle, and the police can suck it, so yeah. But seriously, it's a mass produced rifle which, although has relatively good build quality, it could be better. The general upgrade structure for this weapon goes like (but not limited to) such:

  • Barrel - tighter tolerances, new rifling, and smoother honing in the barrel provide more accuracy; better metal composition and construction leads to a lighter and/or stronger barrel which can also boost accuracy and reliability. A possibility: being able to re-chamber the barrel to accept different calibers can affect damage, range, and accuracy.
  • New bolt - tighter tolerances, lighter/stronger material; this leads to weight reduction and increased reliability, even faster reloading.
  • New stock - better material composites, better construction; mostly for show, could reduce weight and increase reliability.
  • New scope - precision ground lenses, backlit optics, stronger/weaker zoom, night vision, or even choosing to replace with a red dot will affect accuracy at a certain range. I.E. a scope with a powerful zoom will increase accuracy for long ranged shots but will make mid to close range shots less accurate (try looking at your computer screen though binoculars).
  • More to come later, I suppose.
Just a few final notes: The upgrade path for this rifle is not very linear, eventually its improvement-due-to-upgrades will level off, and at that point you can only upgrade certain aspects at the cost of another feature. The rifle (when combined with the right attack) can deal one-hit-kills; success varies, though. And like always, one-hit-kills don't work against bosses, it just deals high damage.

Secondary Weapon: Custom Crafted Sword
Description: Originally built to replicate King Arthur's Excalibur, with the only difference being a slightly larger and thicker blade to cope with strength issues. Has a built in ability to surface heat it's blade, which can be used for increasing damage and creating status ailments during battle, or can be used for practical use, like starting a fire or cutting through certain materials.
I suppose this sword looks more cool than it really is. I mean, a lot of other party members have swords with creative names and flashy looks and they can do cooler things than light leaves and bushes on fire. Regardless, NoodleKnight needed something to deal with melee attacks and when he runs out of ammo, and using a tiny dagger or a Ka-bar seemed kind of boring, so a sword fit the call of duty.

Ultimate/Tertiary Weapon: Remanufactured Colt "Black Anaconda" Revolver
Description: Rebuilt from the original .44 Colt Anaconda, the entire frame was re-casted and re-machined to form a much stronger gun. The barrel was rechambered to use .460 Smith & Wesson ammunition, this also allows the gun to fire .454 Casull hunting rounds, and .45 colt rounds; which is nice since not all stores or all lootable corpses will have .460 SW rounds. The original .44 Colt Anaconda was claimed to be the most accurate .44 Magnum revolver sold on the market; the .460 sw magnum round is the highest velocity and most powerful .45 caliber handgun cartridge in production today. To somewhat get the best of both worlds the body was re-casted with better metallurgy to cope with the increased chamber pressures and re-machined to tighter tolerances than from the original manufactuer's factory. To make the gun unique from most other .44 Colt Anaconda's, the body was anodized black, which allowed the gun to keep it's metallic finish yet change it's outer colors.
I can't exactly explain why I put it as an ultimate weapon, so I gave it an option to be a Tertiary weapon. In effort to try and broaden NoodleKnight's combat ability, I felt that a weapon that could cover the mid-range to close-range attack distances seemed appropriate. The magnum itself cannot be modified, it's already it it's "elite" form, but what can be changed is the ammo. Since nothing about item rarity is written yet, .460sw magnum rounds should be very rare and are the key to allowing NoodleKnight to deal One-Hit-Kills with his magnum (in conjunction with the right manatech or adrenaline attack, I suppose), otherwise, using .460sw rounds deals an incredible amount of damage. Oh and like always, One-Hit-Kills are not possible on all bosses, or none at all -- just a shit load of damage. In regular use, more commonly avaliable .454 Casull and .45 Long Colt rounds are used, and still do pretty decent damage, since high damage attacks are NoodleKnight's key strength.

Armor: Custom Kevlar Vest
Description: NoodleKnight wears a non-standard, hand crafted armored vest. Plates of ballistic ceramic composite are wrapped in multiple layers of black Kevlar Fabric. Additional straps and hooks have been woven into the vest for carrying weapons and additional items. Overall the armor is relatively light and is resistant to most low & medium caliber munitions, light sharapnel, and some light melee attacks.

Abilities

Standard Attacks

Normal Attack:
*Ranged - NoodleKnight fires one round from his M700 rifle (after the magazine has been emptied, NoodleKnight reloads, but this is purely an animation effect and does not consume a turn).
*Ranged/Melee - NoodleKnight fires one round from his Black Colt Anaconda (after the cylinder has been emptied, NoodleKnight reloads, but this is purely an animation effect and does not consume a turn).
*Melee - NoodleKnight runs up and swings his sword at his opponent, right to left.
Critical Attack:
*Ranged - NoodleKnight carefully aims at a critical spot (i.e. head) and fires a shot from his M700 rifle (after the magazine has been emptied, NoodleKnight reloads, but this is purely an animation effect and does not consume a turn).
*Ranged/Melee - NoodleKnight fires three rounds from his Black Colt Anaconda (after the cylinder has been emptied, NoodleKnight reloads, but this is purely an animation effect and does not consume a turn).
*Melee - NoodleKnight sprints to his opponent, sword behind him, then swings his sword over head and brings it down on his enemy, cutting straight down from the top.

Skills

NoodleKnight's Skillbook
NoodleKnight's Skill Encyclopedia

Overview: NoodleKnight's skills are focused around high-damage melee and ranged attacks. Techniques, ManaTechs, spells and any other ability possessed by NoodleKnight are all passive and are only used to aid with his attacks.
Biased towards ranged attacks, NoodleKnight is best used as a ranged-support unit, rather than a front-line tank.
Another key strength to take note is NoodleKnight's Reality Marble. Being able to slow time down (without affecting himself) brings about many advantages: Cram in more attacks, higher agility/better at dodging attacks, more time, more time to sleep?. Whatever the case, having extra time is always good.

Story

Background

NoodleKnight's has no known background, but it is open to creation.

Story-Relation

Introduction to the Party

NoodleKnight joins the party after bl-tan and her group helps him during a bar fight. From then on I don't really know what happens, I let the story writers do the creation.

Way before that NoodleKnight supposevely googles his way into this mess, it's actually a lot like how I eventually joined bl-soft, adds an interesting twist to the story, you know?

Plot-related Events

Event Title
Event summary goes here.

Sidequest

Possible Idea - How exactly did NoodleKnight get into this world? If the sidequest is choosen, the player will have to try and go through the process of how NoodleKnight ends up joining Bl-tan's party. Rough summary: NoodleKnight watches Tsukihime, becomes curious about it, Googles for info and finds Beast's Lair Forums, lurks and posts a bit, reads about the creation of a bl-game, joins the team, and ends up here somehow by unexplainable circumstances. More of a nonsensical/comical event, rather than a serious one.
